LAHORE: Karachi Kings all-rounder Moeen Ali shared his thoughts after delivering with both bat and ball against Lahore Qalandars in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11.
Moeen returned with economical figures of 26/2 in four overs, including the prized wickets of set batter Fakhar Zaman and Charith Asalanka.
He came out to bat when the Kings were in trouble at 69-3 in 8.3 overs. The right-hander launched a swift recovery with a 58 run parternship alonside David Warner.
His 39 off 17 with the aid of four sixes and a boundary laid a solid foundation for Azam Khan and Khushdil Shah to finish strong.
After the match, Moeen highlighted his knock and approach alongside head coach Ravi Bopara.
“The plan was to keep it simple; it was more about using my brain and using my experience as a bowler. Not emotionally driven by what’s happening around,” he said.
The 38-year-old said that he came out to bat with an aggressive batting mindset, noting that it was
“The only way we can win this game is if somebody goes in and plays a shot. I think that was the perfect time to do that. There was nothing to lose. Put pressure back on bowlers, and eventually it worked. Azam also went in with the same intent, and Khushdil did the same work,” he observed.
“It was amazing to bat with that intent,” he concluded.
