Karachi Kings aim to confirm semi-final spot against Islamabad United

March 14, 2020

As the tournament is now in the last phase with only a few matches left in the tank, the teams are eyeing semi-final spot as the tournament is still wide open for the remaining five teams apart from Multan Sultans who have already qualified.

In the 28th fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five, Karachi Kings are aiming to confirm their semi-final spot against Islamabad United at National Stadium in Karachi.

For the hosts, the encounter is important as they come with qualification on the line, if they lose to two-times champions, three teams, Peshawar Zalmi, Kings and United will have the same number of points.

For United, the game is a must-win otherwise they will be eliminated. Just like Zalmi, most of their overseas stars have flown back to their respective country, it will be interesting to see the playing XI.

Kings’ in-form foreign pro, Alex Hales has also gone back. Hopes will again be pinned from Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan, who made the highest opening partnership of the PSL 5 against Lahore Qalandars. Among the bowlers, Mohammad Amir, Chris Jordan, and skipper Imad Wasim will hold the key.

For United, Skipper Shadab Khan has evolved tremendously well in this competition with the bat. Among the bowlers, Faheem Ashraf despite bad bowling performances is the highest wicket-taker for them.

Both the teams faced each other on March 1 where Kings defeated United by five wickets in Rawalpindi. The match will start at 7 pm behind closed doors at National Stadium.
