KARACHI: Assistant Coach Muhammad Masroor pinned high hopes for Karachi Kings after a shift in the coaching and management setup ahead of the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, scheduled to commence on March 17.
Masroor, while talking to the media on the sidelines of the team’s training session here, responded to a question regarding the newly formed management and shed light on how a blend of youngsters and senior players would prove beneficial for the team.
“Definitely, it’s a new setup and we have an experienced coach like Phil Simmons, Steve Kirby as the bowling coach, Ravi Bopara as an assistant coach alongside me, so a very formidable coaching core was made,” stated Masroor.
“Our team is a blend of youngsters and seniors, we have [senior players like] Pollard, Shan Masood, U19 captain Sadd Baig, talent hunt program’s find Fawad Khan, who clocks 145 plus, so I am hopeful that with new management we’ll perform well,” he added.
Muhammad Masroor further commented on Karachi Kings’ performance in the last three editions and reiterated that the new management will strategize in a more tactical way to address those mistakes.
“We’ve started the process of planning since Phil Simmons’ arrival, a couple of days ago, we are focusing more on tactics, keeping in mind that we’ll be playing at different venues. We have a pretty balanced squad with Shan Masood, coming in as the captain, who has a lot of experience.
“So, our [coaching] core is focusing on addressing the mistakes we made in the past. We will look for a winning start and make our way to the top by performing well.”
