KARACHI: The newly appointed captain of Karachi Kings, Shan Masood has opened up about his aim to take the franchise to new high heights in the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9.

While talking to the media after the first training session of Karachi Kings, Masood expressed his excitement to lead his home city for the first time in his PSL career.

“I am very excited for the upcoming HBL PSL. We have made a well-balanced team, which will steer Karachi Kings in a new direction,” said Masood.

“We have rebuilt the team for this season, with major changes from the squad to the management, with an aim to take the team to new heights,” he added.

The southpaw also appreciated the young players included in the Karachi Kings’ squad this year and showed the belief that they will successfully lead the team to greater triumphs in the future.

“We have included a promising core group of young players, who will make the franchise team a formidable force and will take the team forward in the years to come,” said Pakistan’s Test captain.

Shan Masood also expressed remorse on the untimely demise of Karachi Kings’ Team Manager & VP Operations, Navaid Rasheed. He announced that Karachi Kings will dedicate this season to Rasheed and will try to play with the same enthusiasm as Rasheed wanted.

“Karachi Kings family lost an important figure in Navaid Rasheed, who passed away last week. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” Masood expressed.

“We will dedicate this season to him and will play the brand of cricket that will reflect the way he (Navaid Rasheed) served Karachi Kings and ARY,” he added.

Masood reflected on his goals for this season and also urged Karachi Kings’ fans to fill the ground and support the team throughout the season.

“With this squad, we have a great chance to qualify for the knockouts. Our goal is to win the trophy in front of our home fans in Karachi,” asserted the Karachi Kings’ skipper.

“I urge fans to please come and fill the stadiums, I would love to see our fans in Karachi to cheer and motivate us, as well as playing the role of the 12th man from outside the ground,” he concluded.

For the unversed, Shan Masood joined Karachi Kings ahead of the PSL 9 Player Draft after a successful trade with Multan Sultans, swapping the left-handed batter with left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram. The trade deal saw Multan Sultans getting Faisal Akram as well as Karachi Kings’ first-round pick in the diamond category and the silver category.
