KARACHI: Wicket-keeper batter Saad Baig credited his Quaid-e-Azam Trophy runs after scoring his maiden half-century against Hyderabad Kingsmen in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 fixture on Saturday night at National Bank Stadium.

The left-hander was retired out after scoring 53 from 37 balls, hitting six fours. His innings helped Karachi Kings post a strong total of 188 after 20 overs.

Speaking after the innings break, Saad said scoring 1000 runs in the country’s premier tournament has helped his game, particularly in white-ball cricket.

It is worth mentioning that Baig was the leading run-scorer in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy 2025-26. The 19-year-old finished the tournament with 1000 runs to his name at an average of 55.55.

“Scoring 1,000 runs is a matter of pride for me. You learn a lot from first-class cricket,” he said.

He also revealed his game plan while praising Moeen Ali for his blistering knock.

“The wicket was difficult, and in the early stages, the ball was not coming onto the bat easily,” Baig revealed.

“My plan was to bat as long as possible,” he further remarked.

“Moeen Ali is a role model for us. He has a lot of experience. He assessed the pitch very well,” the 19-year-old concluded.
