The rivalry between Karachi and Lahore is no secret. The two teams, Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars will face off each other in Dubai in the second match of the PSL. Both the teams have some of the hottest T20 properties of the world in their side. Shoaib Malik is to lead Karachi and Azhar Ali will captain Lahore. The contest is anticipated to be a thrilling one. Before the match kicks off, lets have a preview of the game.

Lahore Qalandars has heavyweights like Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Umar Akmal. Whereas, Karachi has the services of the best allrounder of the world cricket, Shakib-al-Hasan, Ravi Bopara and Shoaib Malik. Lahore Qalandars seem to have a clear edge in terms of batting over the Kings.

On the other hand, in the likes of Muhammad Amir, T20 specialist Sohail Tanvir and quality left arm spinner Imad Wasim, Karachi looks stronger than Lahore. Considering the way pitch has played last night, Lahore might struggle as they lack a quality spinner. However, Karachi has a handful of useful spinners with Shakib, Imad, Usama Mir and Shoaib Malik himself. It will be interesting to see what bowling lineup Karachi Kings goes with. Dwayne Bravo can be an ace for Azhar Ali as Pakistani batsmen have always struggled against slower deliveries and Bravo is an absolute master at bowling slower ones. With the grip in the pitch, it will be extremely difficult for Karachi Kings’s batsmen to hit out Dwayne Bravo.

Captaincy is always crucial and Shoaib Malik looks the better captain between thee two. If the match enters tense situation, Shoaib Malik is expected to handle the situation better, he is a smart skipper and has taken Sialkot and Pakistan team over the line in such situation a number of times. Azhar Ali has not held the captaincy band for long, his confidence as a captain is not high as well. It will be a tough ask for Azhar Ali captain such a star studded side.

Final Verdict

There are no clear favorites in the match so far. But the battle is surely going to be a breathtaking. The match is scheduled to start at 4:30 PST.
