The win keeps Karachi Kings in contention for a spot in the playoffs of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9.
Shoaib Malik, the seasoned campaigner, showcased his nerves of steel in the crunch moments of the match. Reflecting on the team’s strategy during the post-match chat with the broadcast, Malik revealed, “To be honest, we did speak out during the meetings. I told during the meetings when match goes into crunch situations, don’t panic. I remembered my own words. It wasn’t easy. After playing for so many years, you just need to calm yourself.”
Malik’s words of wisdom resonated on the field as he guided the team through a tense chase. His unbeaten knock of 27 runs off 17 deliveries proved vital in securing the much-needed victory for Karachi Kings. “Niazi (Irfan Khan Niazi) is an exceptional talent. I was telling him to watch the ball. He has got talent. As a youngster, you just need to place it,” Malik remarked, acknowledging the promising talent within the squad.
Furthermore, Shoaib Malik revealed a conversation with teammate Kieron Pollard before the match, where the plan was set for the final overs. “Pollard told me before we landed here in Karachi that with two games left, one you finish and one I will finish.
