Draft for Pakistan Super League’s third season took place in Lahore on Sunday, November 12. Six franchises of PSL gathered at the National Cricket Academy to pick their side for the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League. All the franchise, including the new entrants Multan Sultans had nine players in their ranks.
They had to pick one player from Platinum, Diamond and Gold categories, while they had to chose two players from the Silver category and two players from the Emerging players, while four players from Supplementary category.
During the draft, the management of the all the teams will be present including the owners, team managers, and players.
The first pick in the draft is of Lahore Qalandars, second is of Islamabad United, then Karachi Kings, Quetta Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and in the last Multan Sultans will have their turn to pick a player from the respective categories.
Karachi Kings picked South African batsman, Colin Ingram in their first Platinum pick, which strengthened their batting line as they already had Babar Azam, ShahidAfridi and KhurramManzoor in the ranks.
Karachi Kings have various all-rounders in the side, if Karachi Kings is able to activate their supplementary players, their side will have an extremely strong batting line in the likes of New Zealand’s destructive batsman Colin Munro and England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan.
The franchise retained Ravi Bopara and emphasized on picking all-rounders like David Wiese, Luke Wright, local talent Hasan Mohsin to beef to better the team balance.
Their best pick of the evening was Mitchell Johnson from Diamond category. It will give them a destructive bowling combination of Mohammad Amir and Johnson, which will cause problems for all the other teams of the league.
